Dream a Little Dream of Me - This highly ambitious painting successfully combines multiple disparate objects into a single narrative, not an easy feat! I love getting lost in the many layers contained within this picture.

Here's to the Ladies Who Lunch- Made me laugh. Interesting subject matter well executed.

Lavender Maze - Good abstract flow.  Having the green pieces where they aren't expected works well.

Purple Bounty - Bright, happy colors are executed very well.  Interesting treatment of the roots.  Good color harmony.

Petals Afloat - Exhibited an excellent sense of composition.

Helen Stanley

I love watercolor because it is a “risk-taking” medium. It is all about keeping the transparency, glow and light.  This is the challenging and sometimes elusive part of a successful watercolor.

I have been striving to achieve my technique for more than 25 years, developing my skills in college, first as an art major and today through the Glassell School, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and the Watercolor Art Society.  Attending selected workshops throughout the country with well-known and gifted artists has helped further refine my particular style of painting--the use of intense colors and contrast while maintaining the unique elements of watercolor.
